Why I created the Tactics, Strategy, and Command Relationship
The Tactics, Strategy, and Command Relationship was originally developed to prevent arguments. No, really, that’s true. Trying to talk about tactics frequently elicits very passionate discussions, and sometimes those discussions get quite heated. So here’s the dirty little secret: There is always – and I do mean always – more than one way to skin the cat when it comes to tactical plans for any structure fire. So how do you judge who is right and who is wrong?
The answer of course is you can’t. Discussion of tactics cannot be about opinion. It must be about facts. Specifically, it must be about science! The tsc Relationship™ allows instructors and students to diagram their tactical plans and compare their plan to someone else’s plan in an apples-to-apples comparison.
